Chuck Compher
Chuck is our lead trombone player and co-founder of the band. He has over forty years of teaching and playing experience. He is a graduate of the University of North Texas where he was a member of the One O’clock Lab Band in 1968. He has worked professionally with the James Davis and Mel Fitch Orchestras, at various churches, the Shrine Circus and Barnum and Bailey Circus bands. He and his son Chuck Jr. are the only two people in the world known to have water-skied backwards while playing the trombone. The tunes were Lassus Trombone and 76 Trombones. Chuck is retired from 30 years public school teaching and now teaches trombone lessons and is the Jazz Band director at Nolan Catholic High School.
